Kite Terms of Use

Effective date: 14 September 2026 Last updated: 14 September 2026

The short version

Kite is a media downloader and player for Android. It also contains a web browser, so some of what you see in it comes from other people’s websites rather than from us. You are responsible for what you save and for where you go. If something in the browser is objectionable, you can report it to us in two taps, and you can block the site so Kite will not open it again.

These terms are an agreement between you and NexApp (“we”, “us”), the publisher of Kite: Video Downloader (“Kite”, “the app”). By installing or using Kite you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

What Kite is

Kite saves video and audio from web pages onto your device and plays them back. It has four parts:

  • a box where you paste a link,
  • a built-in web browser for finding media,
  • a download engine, and
  • a library and player for what you have saved.

There is no account, no sign-up and no server of ours. Everything you save stays on your device. What the app stores locally is set out in the privacy policy.

Content you did not create, and content we did not publish

Kite does not host, publish or moderate media. Everything you see in Kite’s browser is served by a third-party website, and everything you save comes from one. We do not review those sites in advance and we do not control what they show.

That means two things. Websites are responsible for their own content, and you are responsible for choosing which of them to open and what to take from them.

Using Kite properly

Save only what you have the right to save. Download material you own, material published under a licence that permits it, or material whose rights holder has given you permission. Copyright law applies to what you save in Kite exactly as it applies everywhere else.

Kite respects copy protection. Kite does not bypass copy protection of any kind: material protected by DRM is declined rather than downloaded. Some platforms are blocked in the app outright, and that blocking cannot be switched off.

Follow each site’s own rules. The websites you open in Kite have their own terms, and those terms still apply to you while you are looking at them through Kite.

Personal use. Kite is for your own personal, non-commercial use.

What we consider objectionable

You may not use Kite to obtain, store or pass on material that:

  • sexually exploits or endangers a child, in any form;
  • shows non-consensual sexual activity, or sexual material shared without the consent of the people in it;
  • depicts or celebrates real violence, cruelty, or the abuse of a person or an animal;
  • promotes terrorism, violent extremism, or a violent criminal organisation;
  • incites hatred or violence against a group of people because of their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, nationality, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or caste;
  • harasses, bullies, threatens, impersonates or exposes the private information of another person;
  • shows or arranges the sale of drugs, weapons, or other regulated goods where doing so is unlawful; or
  • infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or other rights.

You also may not attempt to interfere with the app itself — for instance by tampering with it, reverse engineering it in order to redistribute it, or using it to attack another service.

Reporting objectionable content

If you find objectionable material in Kite’s browser, or in something Kite saved for you, you can report it from inside the app:

  • In the browser, open the menu in the top-right corner and choose Report this page.
  • In your library, open the menu on a saved item and choose Report content.
  • On a download that failed, open Details and choose Report.

Each of these opens an email to us with the address, the app version and your device details already filled in, so you only have to write what is wrong.

We read every report. Because we do not host the material, what we can do is limited, but it is real: we review the report, we can add a site to the list the app refuses to open for everybody, and where the material is unlawful we report it to the platform that is hosting it or to the appropriate authority. We aim to look at a report within a few working days.

You can also email us directly at nexapp7@proton.me.

Blocking a site yourself

Kite lets you keep sites out of your own browser without waiting for us.

  • Block this site in the browser menu adds the site you are on to your blocked list at once.
  • Browser settings ▸ Blocked sites is the whole list, where you can add a site by name or remove one you no longer want blocked.

A blocked site and all of its subdomains stop loading, and Kite shows a plain page saying you blocked it. The list lives on your device and is yours to change. It is separate from the platform blocking described above, which you cannot switch off.

Restricted mode

Restricted mode is on when you install Kite. While it is on, searches you run from Kite’s address bar ask the search engine for its strictest safe-search setting, which keeps adult results out of them.

Turning it off takes two deliberate actions — the switch in Browser settings ▸ Privacy, and then a confirmation — because it is a filter that should not come off by accident. It applies to searches; it cannot filter a page you navigate to directly, and a custom search engine is outside its reach.

If you break these terms

We may stop providing the app to you, and may report unlawful activity to the authorities. Because Kite needs no account, there is nothing for us to suspend — but these terms still govern your use of it, and a court can enforce them.

Advertising

Kite is supported by advertising. The ads come from third-party partners, and the privacy policy names them and sets out what they receive.

No warranty

Kite is provided as it is. Websites change constantly, and a site that works today may stop working tomorrow through no act of ours. We do not promise that every link will extract, that every download will finish, or that the app will run without interruption.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost files, lost data, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Kite. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and if you are a consumer you keep every right your local law gives you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we make a change that matters, the app asks you to accept the new version before you carry on using it, and the date at the top of this page changes. Continuing to use Kite after that means you accept the new terms.
